RESUMO

The research on the structure of advanced electrode materials is significant in the field of supercapacitors. Herein, for the first time, we propose a novel 3D/3D composite structure by a multi-step process, in which 3D hollow NiCo LDH nanocages are immobilized on 3D sea urchin-like CoO microspheres. Results show that the 3D CoO acts as an efficient and stable channel for ion diffusion, while the hollow NiCo LDH provides abundant redox-active sites. The calculated results based on density function theory (DFT) show that the CoO@NiCo LDH heterostructure has an enhanced density of states (DOS) near the Fermi level and strong adsorption capacity for OH-, indicating its excellent electrical conductivity and electrochemical reaction kinetics. As a result, the CoO@NiCo LDH electrode has an areal specific capacity of 4.71C cm-2 at a current density of 3 mA cm-2 (440.19C g-1 at 0.28 A g-1) and can still maintain 88.76 % of the initial capacitance after 5000 cycles. In addition, the assembled hybrid supercapacitor has an energy density of 5.59 mWh cm-3 at 39.54 mW cm-3.

RESUMO

Flexible piezoelectric composite, combining high piezoelectricity of filler and flexibility of polymer, provides a new research idea for developing flexible piezoelectric sensors (FPSs) with high piezoelectric output performance. FPSs based on GR/KNN/P(VDF-TrFE) three-phase composites are fabricated via doping a mass fraction of 15 wt% potassium sodium niobate (KNN) ceramic powder and various contents of graphene (GR) nanosheets into a P(VDF-TrFE) matrix. We find that an appropriate amount of GR is responsible for the enhanced crystallinity and ß-phase of P(VDF-TrFE). When the GR content is 0.15 wt%, the three-phase composite film exhibits a dielectric constant (εr) of 20.9 and a quasi-static piezoelectric constant (d33) of -28.4 pC N-1. Under three different test scenarios of a ball drop experiment, a surface of the mouse wheel, and an action of 2.5 MPa external stress, this GR/KNN/P(VDF-TrFE)-based FPS shows high piezoelectric output voltages of 7.4 V, ∼2.0 V, and 15.4 V, respectively. Moreover, the FPS retains its performance even after an extended period of cantilever vibration cycles (2200). Thus, the conductive filler GR is responsible for promoting the energy conversion performance of the piezoelectric polymer, which also provides an application candidate of this GR/KNN/P(VDF-TrFE) film in FPSs.

RESUMO

Greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions in coastal areas are influenced by both mariculture and submarine groundwater discharge (SGD). In this study, we first conducted a comprehensive investigation on carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) emissions affected by SGD in a typical maricultural bay in north-eastern Hainan Island, China. A radon (222Rn) mass balance model revealed considerable high SGD rates (179 ± 92 cm d-1) in the bay, and the fluxes of SGD-derived dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) were 150.36 and 3.65 g C m-2 d-1, respectively. Time-series measurement results, including those for 222Rn, CH4, CO2, and physicochemical parameters, indicated that GHG dynamics in the maricultural bay mainly varied with tidal fluctuations, and isotopic evidence further revealed that acetate fermentation was the main mechanism of methanogenesis in the maricultural waters. The water-air fluxes in the maricultural area were 1.05 ± 0.32 and 9.49 ± 3.96 mmol m-2 day-1 for CH4 and CO2, respectively, implying that Qinglan Bay was a potential source of GHG released into the atmosphere. At the bay-scale, the CO2 emissions followed a spatial pattern, and the CH4 emissions were mainly affected by mariculture. The high CH4 emissions in the maricultural waters caused by maricultural activities, SGD, high temperature, and special hydrology resulted in the formation of the CH4-dominated total CO2-equivalent emissions model. Our study highlights the importance of considering the link between SGD and GHG emissions in maricultural bays when constraining global GHG fluxes.

RESUMO

In condensed matter physics studies, spectral information plays an important role in understanding the composition of materials. However, it is difficult to obtain a material's spectrum information directly through experiments or simulations. For example, the spectral information deconvoluted by scanning tunneling spectroscopy suffers from the temperature broadening effect, which is a known ill-posed problem and makes the deconvolution results unstable. Existing methods, such as the maximum entropy method, tend to select an appropriate regularization to suppress unstable oscillations. However, the choice of regularization is difficult, and oscillations are not completely eliminated. We believe that the possible improvement direction is to pay different attention to different intervals. Combining stochastic optimization and deep learning, in this paper, we introduce a neural network-based strategy to solve the deconvolution problem. Because the neural network can represent any nonuniform piecewise linear function, our method replaces the target spectrum with a neural network and can find a better approximation solution through an accurate and efficient optimization. Experiments on theoretical datasets using superconductors demonstrate that the superconducting gap is more accurately estimated and oscillates less. Plug in real experimental data, our approach obtains clearer results for material analysis.

RESUMO

Background: Existing research indicates that job satisfaction has effects on job performance, but little evidence exists about the mechanism through which the satisfaction-performance association operates. This study aims to examine the effect of job satisfaction on job performance in a district-level health care system of China and to explore the effect mechanism mediated by organizational commitment and burnout. Methods: Cluster sampling was used in this study. All healthcare professionals in the Nanshan Medical Group, who were at work in the last 3 months and able to complete online questionnaire independently were invited to participate the anonymous online survey. Job satisfaction, organizational commitment, burnout and job performance were measured by tools, which have been validated in China. Descriptive statistics were used for the socio-demographic variables and the four job psychological variables. Pearson correlation coefficients was used to determine associations among each of the psychological variables. Linear regression was used to examine association between job performance and other three psychological variables. PROCESS macro was used to examine the mediation effects of organizational commitment and burnout on the association between job satisfaction and performance. Results: In total, 1,200 healthcare professionals completed the anonymous online survey. Job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and job performance were positively correlated with one another, with burnout negatively correlated with them. Linear regression revealed that demographic characteristics, job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and burnout explained 5, 6, 2, and 9% of the variance in job performance. Path analysis showed that the coefficient of the direct effect of job satisfaction on job performance was 0.18, the coefficients of the indirect effects of job satisfaction on job performance through organizational commitment and burnout were 0.17 and 0.37, respectively. The coefficients of the indirect effects of organizational commitment on job performance through burnout was -0.04, but it was not significant. Conclusion: It is promising to improve job performance of providers in Chinese healthcare systems by improving job satisfaction and reducing burnout. Tailored support policies for female healthcare professionals, appropriate incentive mechanisms and improving multidisciplinary healthcare delivery are potential to improve job performance of healthcare professionals in integrated healthcare systems.

RESUMO

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has made many countries adopt restrictive measures like home quarantine. Children were required to study at home, which made parents worried about the rapid myopic progression of their children. To compare myopia progression during the COVID-19 pandemic home quarantine with the time before it and risk factors of myopia progression, we conducted this study. Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science to find literature from December 2019 to March 2022 related to COVID-19 pandemic home quarantine and children's myopia progression. Outcomes of myopia progression included axial length and spherical equivalent refraction. Factors of digital screen device time and outdoor activity time were analyzed. Results: Ten studies were included in this meta-analysis. Compared to the same period before the COVID-19 pandemic, spherical equivalent refraction decreased (OR = -0.27; 95% CI = [-0.33, -0.21]; Z = 8.42; P < 0.00001). However, the subgroup analysis showed that there were no significant differences in spherical equivalent refraction between the two groups in higher-grade school-aged children (grades 4 and above, 11 to 18 years old) (OR = 0.01; 95% CI = [-0.05, 0.07]; Z =0.4; P = 0.69). The outcome of axial length showed no significant difference (OR = 0.06; 95% CI = [-0.31, 0.44]; Z = 0.34; P = 0.74). As for risk factors, the forest plots showed that digital screen device time (OR = 4.56; 95% CI = [4.45, 4.66]; Z = 85.57; P < 0.00001) and outdoor activity time (OR = -1.82; 95% CI = [-2.87, -0.76]; Z = 3.37; P = 0.0008) were risk factors of myopia progression. Conclusion: Compared with the time before the COVID-19 pandemic, myopia progression in children during COVID-19 pandemic home quarantine was accelerated, especially in younger children. Increased digital screen device and decreased outdoor activity times were risk factors. When home quarantine eases, more time on outdoor activities and less time on digital screen devices are needed for children. RESUMO

A dual-polarized continuous transverse stub (CTS) K-band antenna with reconfigurable four beams and low profile is proposed based on substrate-integrated-waveguide (SIW) design. It consists of a line source generator (LSG) on the bottom surface, a spherical-wave to plane-wave transforming part on the middle layer, and CTS radiators on the top surface. Particularly, the LSG has four SIW-based H-plane horns, and a chip is integrated to switch among the two pairs of horns, so as to transfer the quasi-TEM waves on the bottom surface by a ±10° deflection angle to the middle layer for the CTS radiators on the top surface, resulting in four reconfigurable scanning beams with 10° for two polarizations. The measurements show that it realizes four reconfigurable beams with a 25.8 dBi gain at 24 GHz, verifying the design. The proposed antenna takes into account the advantages of reconfigurable multi-beam, dual polarization, low side lobes, low profile, and high gain, which can be applied to K-band sensing, especially for wind profile radars.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Intrapleural analgesia has been increasingly recommended for postoperative analgesia after thoracic surgery. However, the analgesic effect provided by a single intrapleural administration is time limited. This study reports the efficacy and safety of repeated intrapleural 0.75% ropivacaine administration after thoracoscopic surgery. METHODS: Twenty patients were randomly divided into two groups: a single administration group receiving a single intrapleural injection of 0.75% ropivacaine 15 mL (single administration group, SA group), and a repeated administration group with an intrapleural injection of 0.75% ropivacaine 15 mL every 4h for 4 doses (repeated administration group, RA group). The primary outcomes of this study were the peak plasma concentration of ropivacaine and 24h morphine consumption. The secondary outcomes were pain score, patient satisfaction, extubation time, hospital length of stay, and adverse reactions. RESULTS: In SA group, the highest plasma concentration after intrapleural administration of 0.75% ropivacaine 15 mL was 1345±364 µg/L. The highest plasma concentration in RA group after the fourth administration was 1864±492 µg/L. The 24h morphine consumption in RA group was significantly less than that in SA group (9.0±5.66 vs 15.9±3.48 mg, P=0.004). The NRS scores at rest and while coughing of patients in RA group were significantly lower than those in SA group at 5, 9, 13, 17 and 24h after operation. The patients in RA group had higher satisfaction than those in SA group. There was no significant difference in postoperative adverse events, drainage tube placement days and hospital length of stay between the two groups. CONCLUSION: Repeated intrapleural administration with 0.75% ropivacaine, 15 mL every 4h for 4 doses after video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomies, can provide a more durable and more effective analgesic effect than single intrapleural administration. Repeated intrapleural administration of ropivacaine is an effective postoperative method of analgesia resulting in higher patient satisfaction. Moreover, it was also able to keep the plasma concentration of ropivacaine within a possible safe range. CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: ChiCTR-IOR-17010560.

RESUMO

Tuber mustard, which is the raw material of Fuling pickle, is a crop with great economic value. However, during growth and development, tuber mustard is frequently attacked by the pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae and frequently experiences salinity stress. Jasmonic acid (JA) is a hormone related to plant resistance to biotic and abiotic stress. Jasmonate ZIM domain proteins (JAZs) are crucial components of the JA signaling pathway and play important roles in plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress. To date, no information is available about the characteristics of the JAZ family genes in tuber mustard. Here, 38 BjJAZ genes were identified in the whole genome of tuber mustard. The BjJAZ genes are located on 17 of 18 chromosomes in the tuber mustard genome. The gene structures and protein motifs of the BjJAZ genes are conserved between tuber mustard and Arabidopsis. The results of qRT-PCR analysis showed that BjuA030800 was specifically expressed in root, and BjuA007483 was specifically expressed in leaf. In addition, 13 BjJAZ genes were transiently induced by P. brassicae at 12 h, and 7 BjJAZ genes were induced by salt stress from 12 to 24 h. These results provide valuable information for further studies on the role of BjJAZ genes in the regulation of plant growth and development and in the response to biotic and abiotic stress.

RESUMO

In this study, Acid-Volatile Sulfur (AVS), trace metals Cu, Cd and Zn and their chemical speciation based on BCR-sequential and simultaneous extraction (SEMs) in Antarctic lake sediments (Y2-1 and YO) were analyzed to investigate the restriction of sulfate reduction on the bioavailability and toxicity of trace metals. Much higher trace metals in Y2-1 indicating a primary source from penguin guano. The main chemical speciation of Cu and Cd in Y2-1 was their oxidizable fraction in contrast to those of weak-acid extraction in YO. Lower ratio of ΣSEM/AVS in Y2-1 indicating less toxicity of the trace metals. The main chemical speciation of Cd in Y2-1 was their oxidizable fraction in contrast to that exchangeable fraction in penguin guano, indicating that although amounts of Cd was transported from marine to lake by penguins, strong sulfate reduction in ornithogenic sediments restricts the bioavailability and toxicity of Cd through the formation of insoluble sulfide.

RESUMO

In Antarctica, penguins transport sulfur and other bio-elements in the form of guano from marine to terrestrial environments where they become deposited in ornithogenic soils and sediments, including lake or pond systems. Transformation of sulfur species in these terrestrial and aquatic deposits, however, has rarely been studied. Here, we used the cold diffusion method to analyze various sulfur species in a lake deposit of ornithogenic sediment core (C1) and a pristine lake sediment core (C2), collected from Ardley Island and Fildes Peninsula, Antarctic Peninsula, respectively. The total organic carbon, total phosphorus, total nitrogen and various sulfur species in C1 were more fluctuant and much higher than those in C2, indicating a primary source from penguin guano. In core C1, organic sulfur (Org-S) was the main form of sulfur, and sulfate (SO42-) was the main form of inorganic sulfur. The acid volatile sulfur (AVS) in C1 was much higher than pyrite sulfur (CRS). In the pristine lake sediment core C2, Org-S and SO42- were the main sulfur species. CRS was the primary form of reduced inorganic sulfur in C2 sediments in contrast to the AVS in C1, indicating that AVS had been effectively transformed into CRS in C1. Our results demonstrate that the high levels of organic matter in C1 likely limited the transformation of AVS to CRS.

RESUMO

Transport inhibitor response 1/auxin signaling f-box proteins (TIR1/AFBs) play important roles in the process of plant growth and development as auxin receptors. To date, no information has been available about the characteristics of the TIR1/AFB gene family in Brassica juncea var. tumida. In this study, 18 TIR1/AFB genes were identified and could be clustered into six groups. The genes are located in 11 of 18 chromosomes in the genome of B. juncea var. tumida, and similar gene structures are found for each of those genes. Several cis-elements related to plant response to phytohormones, biotic stresses, and abiotic stresses are found in the promoter of BjuTIR1/AFB genes. The results of qPCR analysis show that most genes have differential patterns of expression among six tissues, with the expression levels of some of the genes repressed by salt stress treatment. Some of the genes are also responsive to pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae treatment. This study provides valuable information for further studies as to the role of BjuTIR1/AFB genes in the regulation of plant growth, development, and response to abiotic stress.

RESUMO

Donkey milk, similar to human milk in compositions, has been suggested as the best potential hypoallergenic replacement diet for babies suffering from cow milk protein allergens and a promising nutraceutical for aged people. In this study, label-free mass spectrometry analysis was conducted to quantitatively identify the whey proteins differentially expressed in high-milk-yield samples compared with low-milk-yield samples. A total of 216 whey proteins were identified, and 19 of them showed significant differences in high-milk-yield samples. Of these proteins, 16 were upregulated and 3 were downregulated. Differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) were subjected to intensive bioinformatic analysis. Results revealed that the majority of DEPs participated in protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum, estrogen signaling pathway, progesterone-mediated oocyte maturation, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. Functional protein analysis suggested that proteins functioned in binding, catalytic activity, molecular function regulation, structural molecule activity, and transporter activity. Our study was the first to analyze the whey protein profile of different samples of donkey milk and to identify candidate proteins that could be used to explore the molecular mechanism related to the yield traits of Dezhou donkey milk. This study provided the biomarkers for the selection of high-milk-yielding donkey and obtained valuable information for future studies.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Proximal brachial plexus blocks can lead to an extended period of motor paralysis and delay the return of motor function. This could influence patient satisfaction, and extend hospitalizations. The aim of the study is to compare a selective distal nerve block of the arm to a proximal axillary block, both ultrasound-guided, in terms of their motor block intensity of the elbow. Our hypothesis is that a selective nerve block of the arm would result in a different motor block of the elbow, compared to the axillary block. METHODS: A sample size of 24 patients who were undergoing elective surgery (ASA I-III) of the wrist, hand or forearm was randomly divided into two groups: Arm Group (n = 12) and Axillary Group (n = 12). The Arm Group received ultrasound-guided block of the median, ulnar, and medial antebrachial cutaneous nerves at the level of upper-median 1/3 of the arm, and a block of the radial and musculocutaneous nerves at the level of low-median 1/3 of the arm, while the Axillary Group received ultrasound-guided axillary brachial plexus blocks. Both blocks used in combination with general anesthesia. RESULTS: Our results demonstrated that the incidence of motor block at the elbow in the Arm Group was lower than in the Axillary Group. Compared with the Axillary Group, the duration of motor block at the elbow and the onset time of sensory block in the Arm Group were shortened. The patient satisfaction was increased in the Arm Group. There were no differences in the duration of the sensory block, the effect on postoperative analgesia, or in the duration of the motor block at the shoulder between both groups. CONCLUSION: Our study showed that ultrasound-guided selective nerve block in the upper arm allowed improved retention of motor function at the elbow compared to axillary block. Secondarily, the ultrasound-guided selective nerve block seemed to provide similar analgesia after surgery of the hand or forearm with an enhanced patient satisfaction. RESUMO

In this paper, chitosan (CS)/graphene oxide (GO) composite films were prepared, and the effect of γ-ray irradiation on the properties of composite films was investigated. The irradiation crosslinking reaction occurred in composite films with the existence of acetic acid, and the properties changed upon the various irradiation dose. The swelling degree of the composite film with 0 wt % GO decreased with the increasing of the irradiation dose, but the swelling degree of which with GO increased instead. The thermal stability increased with the increasing of the irradiation dose, but the effect of the irradiation on the thermal stability weakened as the increasing of the content of GO, due to the enhanced irradiation resistance performance. The tensile strength increased firstly and decreased subsequently with the increasing of the irradiation dose and the content of GO. Composite films showed the enhanced antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis, compared to Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activity weakened with the increasing of the content of GO. The antibacterial activity was relatively stronger when the irradiation dose was 20 KGy. In addition, the structural, crystal, and morphological properties of composite films were characterized by FT-IR, XRD, and SEM. It is worth noting that the GO was pre-functionalized via KH560 for the better compatibility with CS matrix.

RESUMO

We demonstrate a low-cost and facile photochemical solution method to prepare the ZrO2 resistive switching arrays as memristive units on flexible PET/ITO substrates. ZrO2 solution sensitive to UV light of 337 nm was synthesized using zirconium n-butyl alcohol as the precursor, and benzoylacetone as the complexing agent. After the dip-coated ZrO2 gel films were irradiated through a mask under the UV lamp (with wavelength of 325-365 nm) at room temperature and rinsed in ethanol, the ZrO2 gel arrays were obtained on PET/ITO substrates. Subsequently, the ZrO2 gel arrays were irradiated by deep UV light of 254 and 185 nm at 150 °C, resulting in the amorphous ZrO2 memristive micro-arrays. The ZrO2 units on flexible PET/ITO substrates exhibited excellent memristive properties. A high ratio of 104 of on-state and off-state resistance was obtained. The resistive switching behavior of the flexible device remained stable after being bent for 103 times. The device showed stable flexibility up to a minimum bending diameter of 1.25 cm.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Limb ischemia/reperfusion causes inflammation and elicits oxidative stress that may lead to local tissue damage and remote organ such as lung injury. This study investigates pulmonary function after limb ischemia/reperfusion and the protective effect of a lipid emulsion (Intralipid). METHODS: Twenty-four rats were divided into three groups: sham operation group (group S), ischemia/reperfusion group (group IR), and lipid emulsion treatment group (group LE). limb ischemia/reperfusion was induced through occlusion of the infrarenal abdominal aorta for 3 h. The microvascular clamp was removed carefully and reperfusion was provided for 3 h. RESULTS: The mean arterial pressure in group LE was higher than group IR during the reperfusion period (P = 0.024). The heart rate of both group LE and IR are significantly higher than group S during the ischemia period(P < 0.001, P < 0.001, respectively). The arterial oxygen pressure of group LE was significantly higher than group IR (P = 0.003), the arterial carbon dioxide pressure of group LE were lower than that of group IR (P = 0.005). The concentration of plasma interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α and malondialdehyde in group LE were significantly lower than group IR (P < 0.001, P = 0.009 and 0.029, respectively). The plasma superoxide dismutase activity in group LE was significantly higher than group IR (P = 0.029). The myeloperoxidase activity in lung tissues of group LE was significantly less than group IR (P = 0.046). Both muscle and lung in group IR were damaged seriously, whereas lipid emulsion (Intralipid) effectively reversed the damage. In summary, Intralipid administration resulted in several beneficial effects as compared to group IR, such as the pulmonary gas exchange and inflammatory. CONCLUSIONS: The ischemic/reperfusion injury of limb muscles with resultant inflammatory damage to lung tissue can be mitigated by administration of a lipid emulsion (Intralipid, 20%, 5 ml/kg). The mechanisms attenuating such a physiological may be attributed to reduction of the degree of limb injury through a decrease in the release of local inflammatory mediators, a reduction of lipid peroxidation, and a blunting of the subsequent remote inflammatory response.

RESUMO

Harvesting of microalgae is the major challenge in cost-efficient large-scale microalgal biomass production due to their low concentration and small cell size in the culture medium. The present paper aimed to study the efficiency of the filamentous fungus Mucor circinelloides spores suspensions to harvest the green unicellular microalga Chlorella pyrenoidosa grown in synthetic medium. Results showed that the optimal co-culture conditions were pH=6.0, 1.25 g·L-1 glucose and 1:250 fungi to microalgae ratio with harvest efficiency of 91.08%. In addition, the mentioned optimal conditions could be applied for actual sewage with harvest efficiency of 92.33%. Polysaccharide concentrations measured before and after 48 h of cultivation showed that the polysaccharide of C. pyrenoidosa cultured alone was increased by 0.047 g·L-1, while co-cultured mixture showed increase in polysaccharides by 0.019 g·L-1. The recorded decrease in polysaccharides concentration in the co-culture might be attributed to using of excreted polysaccharides by M. circinelloides to grow, confirming the symbiotic association of both organisms. Furthermore, with decreasing the pH, C. pyrenoidosa Zeta potential was stable, while it was increased from -37.7 mV to -9.87 mV in M. circinelloides, which indicated that charge neutralization was the mechanism of flocculation between algae and fungi.
